US investors trading on NYSE Liffe's London market got a boost in January when that market's contracts became eligible for 60/40 tax treatment. US investors who are trading products listed on the NYSE Liffe London market now benefit from 60/40 tax treatment, wherein 60% of profits and losses are taxed at the lower long-term capital gains rate and 40% of such gains and losses are taxed at the higher, short-term rate. NYSE Liffe also has initiated the process to apply for 60/40 tax treatment for products listed in its Amsterdam and Paris markets.
