After two years of stepped-up airport screening due to the implementation of Department of Homeland Security measures, the stories are legion of individuals being detained, questioned, searched, forbidden from boarding and even removed from planes. Among the latest travelers removed from a US aircraft and detained without explanation were four California-based Catholic nuns. The American Airlines denies that discrimination or ethnic profiling played a part, but the Indian-born nuns believe their skin color, possibly their religious dress and at least one sister's surname were factors in their removal from flight.
