De La Torre added the U.S. government was aware that many lives would be lost and expected death to be a deterrent to undocumented immigration. "Death of brown bodies in the dessert is the biggest human rights violation happening in the U.S. today," he said.

"Two: widen your allies; we cannot do this alone whether it is about housing, employment or education; it is all tied together," he said. Third factor: is courage to stand up; "know when you stand up you are not alone." Fourth: keep fear of God and believe the cause is just. "God will fight our battles," said Rev. Minor.
