First seen in the U.S. at the Innovision Optics booth at the NAB '07 confab in Las Vegas this past April, the Viewston is a unique roll-up flex-arm extending camera crane. The prototype, built by Fuji Television Network in Japan, was also on display at the CineGear event in Los Angeles in June.Able to carry a camera load of 30kg, the Viewston weighs in at 600kg (without counterweights) and measures approximately 2.6m in length, 1.5m in width and 2.5m in height when folded. The segmented extending arm has a horizontal reach of approximately 4.7m (or 6m from the support's center), giving a mounted camera a possible height of about 6.5m when the arm is fully extended and swung up by 40 degrees.
