Summary
Beginning May 1, patients who need more advanced care than can be provided by volunteer ambulance crews will be moved into American Medical Response rigs at designated transfer points along area roadways. The change will end a long-standing practice in which AMR paramedics climbed aboard volunteer ambulances to treat critically ill or injured patients on the way to the hospital.
