Summary
Simply by virtue of being watchable, [Jon Turteltaub]'s National Treasure qualifies as the Citizen Kane of collaborations between Nicolas Cage and soulless super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Then again, I guess when you're being measured against the likes of The Rock, Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds, it's hard not to be the overachiever of the bunch.
Indeed, this is all completely preposterous, but somehow National Treasure works best when it's at its silliest. Cage drops his stoic man-of-action routine and puts a neat, nerdy little spin on his line readings. Of course he's afraid of getting killed or going to prison, but he's even more nervous that his cantankerous dad (Jon Voight) will find out he stole the Declaration.See the full content of this document
