APPEALS COURT SAYS STATE MUST RECOGNIZE CANADIAN MARRIAGE OF NY LESBIAN COUPLE In a unanimous decision, a New York appellate court on Feb. 1 ruled that marriages of same-sex couples entered into outside of New York must be recognized. The federal law prohibits sex discrimination in education, and requires schools and colleges receiving federal funding to give women and girls the equal opportunity to participate in sport.
