From licking the stamps and making the tea, FICM council member Ruth Dixon soon progressed to typing the writs and summonses several times per case -- these were the days before photocopies were permitted -- and then moved on to undertake all kinds of bankruptcy processes. Technology progresses, law and procedure changes, solicitors' firms merge and demerge, and the business world today is unrecognizable from the 1970s. She is now well adjusted to the new surroundings and getting on with the proverbial process of getting blood from stones. Her biggest success at work was some years ago, after having tracked a debtor across three continents and back to London, he was finally served with bankruptcy petition.
