Kara Duncan, 25, has held her youngest daughter in her heart since the child's birth last year. Now, Connie "Ivie" Duncan -- affectionately known as "Baby Ivie" -- carries a part of her mother with her.

In surgeries Thursday at the University of Illinois Medical Center, the Evansville woman gave 25 percent of her liver to 14- month-old Ivie, who was desperately in need of a life-saving transplant.
