Among the many other changes we have implemented include: extending time limits for MID to review property and casualty rate filings; successfully concluded a legislatively mandated wind mitigation cost benefit analysis and currently are overseeing the creation of a wind mitigation program. Through the State Fire Marshal's Office, we continue to promote fire safety and combat fire deaths by prohibiting the sale or distribution of dangerous novelty lighters, the distribution of over 30,000 free smoke alarms, and passed legislation regarding the sale and distribution of fire standard compliant cigarettes (FSCC), which are designed to reduce the amount of time that a cigarette continues to burn when it is not actively being smoked.
