"They're having issues as it relates to fundraising," said Congressman Kendrick Meek, in addressing the issue of whether or not the King Center in Atlanta should be turned over to the Federal Parks Department. "King's family needs financial assistance of taxpayer's to help preserve some of his work and his papers."

"I thought of this because when he (Dr. King) came on campus while I was a student at Southern University (Baton Rouge, La.) in the 1960's, he made an impact on me," [Preston Marshall] said. "Yes, we have grown. The difference between then (29 years ago) and now is like the difference between Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts."

"No. The war hasn't hurt our recruiting cadets. That's not what we're about. They are not obligated to enlist in the military. We're teaching discipline and leadership, helping students become better in their lives, helping them get into college," said Sgt. First Class Michael McCants, a JROTC Instructor at Miami Northwestern.
