The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has developed the B5.54 standard which can be used to measure the accuracy of new machine tools. The standard provides a universal language for machine accuracy and covers all aspects of machine geometry and testing excluded from overseas standards. Machine tool buyers can also assess machine tools using accuracy statements based on B5.54 tests as well as obtain test results for each new machine.
