IBM's MQSeries - Product Information

IBM's MQSeries software allows message-based application development within distributed systems. MQS, which guarantees message delivery between applications, uses a standard application programming interface (API) in its support of numerous platforms. Among the supported platforms are MVS/ESA, AIX, OS/400 and OS/2, plus non-IBM systems that include Tandem and HP-UX. Message-based applications ensure round-the-clock placement of international orders, as opposed to direct interactions that are restricted to a destination's normal business hours. Message-based connections handles messages regardless of the other application's site or communications technique. A variety of direct connect application techniques, by comparison, can strain application designs. Drawbacks can include tracking activity within MQS, tracking MQS resources and administration.
