LATE April, China Daily reported that property speculators from Wenzhou who largely contributed to real estate price hike in China's big cities were moving their money to Malaysia. As Beijing tightens control on the real estate market to curb excessive speculations, investors from China have begun looking overseas for new opportunities.

"... the investors are going to Malaysia for their first overseas purchases because of the high return on investment, invitation of foreign investment by the Malaysian Government and the convenience of getting there from China," noted China Daily.

Malaysia, a Property Hotbed

Apart from Chinese nationals, Indians too are attracted to the Malaysian property mart, reported the Economic Times in early March. Citing sources, the financial daily noted that more than 700 Indians have purchased properties in various Malaysian cities in the first two months of this year alone.
