Business communicators can utilize technology to their advantage instead of feeling intimated by it. First, they have to use creativity in maximizing the benefits of technology. Microsoft Corp has been successful in using the World Wide Web to design an innovative communication program as part of a marketing campaign to gain a competitive edge in the Web browser market. Its rival, Sun Microsystems, also took the same route to develop the major components of the Java programming language. Pointcast became successful in marketing its so-called push technology to Internet advertisers. Other companies are forging alliances to strengthen their communication efforts over the Internet. The key is for communicators to have commitment and foresight in using technology, not to mention patience, persistence and a strong familiarity with technological trends.
