Whether Maine's citizens will pay any new taxes to finance a state-sponsored health insurance program will be decided in next month's election. The Fed Up With Taxes coalition successfully gathered more than enough voters' signatures in time to have the question placed on the ballot for a November 4 vote, according to Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. The referendum seeks to overturn a state law adopted earlier this year to fund DirigoChoice, a state-operated, voluntary private insurance option for businesses with 50 or fewer workers, the self-employed and individuals.
