Document conferencing - Technology Information

Document conferencing allows employees at remote locations to collaborate on documents or blueprints without the complications and expense of long-distance travel. Document conferencing is essentially a multipoint conference call for workstations. Attendees view the same editable document on their screen, while a conference call accompanies and clarifies the document visual. Businesses considering an investment in document conferencing should purchase standards-based products, coordinate throughput and bandwidth requirements, and train conferees on session etiquette and the use of the product's annotation toolset. Outsourcing is another possible conferencing arrangement. Service providers notify participants, supply a toll-free number, provide communications and conferencing software, load conference documents onto its server and coordinate the session.
