The National Alliance of HUD Tenants is joining the CBPP to help publicize the crisis. NAHT is the national tenant union representing two million families who live in privately-owned, HUD subsidized housing complexes.

According to NAHT the budget cuts in Section 8 assistance would mean nationwide that at least 100,000 families currently receiving special Enhanced Vouchers will lose their homes next year if the president's new HUD budget request is adopted. In addition 250,000 fewer families will be aided by the president's fiscal year 2005 request, and 600,000 will be phased out by 2009.
