In an interview, Beth Amos, director of technical communication at Australia's Child Support Agency (CSA), talked about her role and why the global economic crisis has resulted in an increase in funding for her department. Amos said she head up the technical communication team of eight internal communicators and although the word technical in their name may sound like they're part of IT, it reflects their role of supporting staff to make good technical decisions under the child support scheme. Their funding has actually increased to meet customer and workload demands so CSA is currently in the process of bulk recruiting. Of course their employees feel the impact because they're servicing customers who've been affected by the crisis.
