Summary
These SAD sacks are unable to carry on normal interpersonal and work-related activities and often crave sweets. Some individuals are more susceptible to SAD than others, while women are more commonly affected than men. There could also be a genetic connection to SAD. The American Psychiatric Association estimates that 10 to 20 percent of Americans have a mild form of SAD.
The incidence of SAD is directly related to the distance from the Equator. The farther we live from it, the more dramatic the seasonal changes, and the less sunlight in the winter months.
