Leroy Anderson
FIRST THINGS FIRST. THE NAME IS NOT WRITTEN "LE ROY" or "LeRoy," but "Leroy;" and it is not pronounced "Lee-roy," but "Leh-roy." Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) originated a genre so distinctive that is has no name other than "Leroy Anderson music." Pressed for a definition of his own work, Anderson described it as concert music, cut to the bone, with a popular touch.
