Laundering Money

Summary


There was a drug dealer named Nicky Barns who appeared on. the cover of the magazine section of the New York Times. They called him "Mr. Untouchable." He laundered his money from a church on 125 Street. National news, media said that he put some of his earnings into a housing project in Cincinnati, Ohio. Nicky Barnes was apprehended, and he received a life sentence. After a few lonely nights in a jail cell, he decided to turn state's evidence. Rumor has it that he is now in the witness protection program.

Laundered money is used to buy into legitimate business. Eventually, many drug dealers, if they live, become legitimate businesspersons. They are some of the most honest citizens in the community. Many people doubt this. Have you ever heard of the Robber Barons? Around the turn of the century, a group of men got together and decided to control the economy of America. One of them had steel, another had coal, another had railroads, and lumber, they had a hook-up that was mind boggling; they had the country by the short hairs; they had what was called a "Trust."
