Systems Application Architecture
Some users are wondering whether IBM's Systems Application Architecture (SAA) is a comprehensive architecture or just a marketing tool. Software written to SAA specifications gives the user a standard interface that can be used to access other applications on the same system. An executive from the Gartner Group told attendees at the 1990 Teleforum gathering that the SAA model is becoming so extended and watered down that 'it no longer represents a sound array of architectural principals.'
