As part of their 35th anniversary convention at Arrowwood Resort in Okoboji, July 18-20, the Iowa Independent Bankers hosted the president and chairman of their national affiliate organization. Camden Fine, president and CEO of the ICBA since March 2004, and James Ghiglieri, Jr., 2007-2008 ICBA chairman, and president/CEO of Alpha Community Bank in Toluca, Illinois, teamed to provide a national issues update - addressing competition from Wal-Mart, Farm Credit System expansion, credit union competition and regulatory relief. Fine spoke at the traditional legislative breakfast and Ghiglieri spoke from the podium during the convention's closing-day general session.
