What does Fort Lauderdale Mayor [JIM NAUGLE] and Rev. O'[NEAL DOZIER], pastor of the Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach have in common? For starters, both seem to thrive on controversy. Last week, the two held a press conference where Naugle discussed why it is necessary for taxpayers to purchase $250,000 toilets for bathrooms on the beach, with the goal of curbing homosexual activity in stalls, while Ft. Lauderdale police have said this activity is really not an issue. It is, however, seen by some as a publicity opportunity for Naugle and Dozier. You may recall that Dozier was in the news last year for referring to Islam as a "cult" and the Koran as "evil." He was removed from the Judicial Nominating Committee, as an appointee of former Republican Governor, Jeb Bush. The unlikely Naugle and Dozier duo stood before the Fort Lauderdale City Hall with microphones in hand last week.... doing what they do.
You would hate to think that it's a "crabs in the bucket" mentality... my people, my people. Someone also needs to tell [BARAK OBAMA] that he better find some churches to connect with in this HUGE voting area that contains most of the State of Florida's population. It seems that Obama is on the right side of the fence on issues of war, immigration and health care. Surprising to some, he is keeping up on fundraising with [Hillary Clinton] and he is not afraid to buck the system and go against the grain. He totally ignored the South Florida Cuban leadership who are so used to having their way. If elected president, he would ease U.S.-Cuba travel restrictions to allow Cubans to visit family members more often. His plan would also allow Cubans to send more money from the United States to their families on the island. The deep Cuban "Castro" haters have a very LOUD voice in this area - much larger than the numbers that they actually represent. Hillary Clinton and many other Democrats and Republicans support the status quo. We may not have that "big [Stacy Ritter]" lobbyist money, but Blacks in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach have been known to vote and vote in large numbers.
