There are a variety of opinions and a lack of a definite standard on which to base the behavior of social workers. The exploratory study criticized by Brenda Duncan for lack of context was aimed at reporting the beliefs and practices of the social worker respondents and not to judge whether behaviors are appropriate or not. Focusing on context of social worker behavior would have defeated the purpose of establishing a standard as this would have posed a variety of exemptions depending on context.
