At the time of this writing, the death toll from the Indian Ocean tsunami has surpassed 295,000. Already, an incredible amount of aid has been pledged to help the disaster areas, and emergency help and supplies from a host of nations are going to the area with all possible haste. There are a host of reasons why it is a good idea to donate something to the various tsunami relief efforts. It could be viewed as a tax write-off, or a way of fighting terrorism, strangely enough. Or, it could simply be looked at as doing something decent for strangers who really need it.
