Summary

The Art Spirit Gallery exhibits a combination of well-established emerging artists from the Northwest. Each month, the gallery changes its exhibit and puts up a new featured artist or show of original work. The featured artist's exhibit is approximately half of the main gallery and the remainder contains the work of the other 30 artists represented by the gallery. Opening receptions are held at the Art of Spirit Gallery on the second Friday of each month from April through November and on the first Friday of December, in conjunction with the Coeur d'Alene downtown ArtWalks. Opening receptions provide the community with the opportunity to view the gallery's art, meet the artists and socialize. Gallery artists include Steve Adams, Jenny Andersen, Chris Antemann, Harold Balazs, George Carlson, Morse Clary, Peter Cox, Don Ealy, Mary Farrell, Gina Freuen, Terry Gieber, Elaine Green, Robert Grimes, Glenn Grishkoff, Michael Horswill, Mauricio Lasansky, Mel McCuddin, Katherine Nelson, Dan Pinkham, Joseph Raffael, Steve Sauer and Valerie Seaberg.

Pam and Jim Martin opened this gallery in 1977 in their garage and the "entry" of the previous garage area coined the name of the gallery. "Entry" is spelled "Entree" in honor of the multitude of trees at Priest Lake. The Entree Gallery represents over 100 local and regional artisans and craftsmen and offers a variety of artworks, ranging from oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to sculpture, clay, glass, jewelry, textiles and hand-crafted furniture. All of the gallery's artworks are the product of well-known local, national or international artists. The Entree Gallery sponsors monthly feature shows and frequent receptions and demonstrations where artists can be met. The public is always welcome to attend. The gallery also hosts events on the gallery grounds.

Established in 1982 as an outreach facility of the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture, the Prichard Art Gallery aims to be a leader in the presentation of contemporary visual arts within the Northwest and seeks to encourage experimentation through the support presentation of new works by emerging and established artists. Through its exhibitions, outreach and related educational programming, the gallery is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the university community, the Palouse region, the state of Idaho and the Northwest region. The Prichard Art Gallery hosts seven to nine exhibitions annually and provides the community with a full spectrum of the arts, including fine arts, architecture and landscape architecture. Ceramics, photography, glass art, fine craft, computer art, folk art and installation art are exhibited, along with the traditional arts, painting and sculpture. The University of Idaho Prichard Art Gallery serves over 13,000 visitors annually, including approximately 2,000 students from area and regional schools. The gallery's docent program conducts guided tours for elementary and secondary school students and the gallery provides a forum for lectures, presentations and panel discussions. In addition to a full-time director and part-time assistant, the Prichard Art Gallery is staffed by students from the University of Idaho.

But whatever the reason, many galleries dot the panhandle landscape. Take notice.
