House Oks Bill to Eliminate Four End-of-Course High School Exams

The House voted 94-13 on Thursday to end a requirement that high school students take end-of-course exams in four subjects. Lawmakers approved a bill directing the state education department to stop administering tests in U.S. History, Algebra 2, Physical Science, and Civics and Economics starting next fall.

The tests aren't required by federal law, and legislative fiscal analysts say ending them would save nearly $3 million.
