District Attorney [Richard A. Brown] said that, according to the charges, on the afternoon of April 19, 2007, a female resident of 190-25 Woodhull Avenue in Hollis was notified at work by a neighbor that her apartment had been broken into sometime that day. Returning to her apartment at approximately 6:00 p.m., the resident found her front door open and her apartment ransacked. Once inside, she discovered her television, VCR and some toiletries had been placed in a bag by the door. At that moment, it is alleged, the defendant opened the door and entered the apartment, only to see the resident and flee the scene.
