Summary

If you haven't found a 2009 calendar yet, the Marin County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program has a full-color wall calendar that connects local images with actions that can be taken to protect local creeks and the bay. Each month has a different theme, from protecting wildlife to preserving resources. For a free calendar, call Jennifer Lueder at 415/5072745 or e-mail her at jlueder@co.marin. ca.us. Leave your name, address and ZIP code. The calendar was funded by a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board with support from other local agencies, including the Marin Municipal Water District.

The Environmental Forum of Marin is offering an eight-week sustainable communities seminar beginning Jan. 31. It will be held on consecutive Saturdays, except Feb. 14, from 9am to 1pm at Larkspur Landing. The seminar includes an overview of issues affecting the Bay Area and an introduction to sus- tainability; information on water resources and the watershed; alterna- tives to oil; opportuni- ties using solar, wind and geothermal power; waste reduction; land use and planning; transportation issues and more. Cost is $250. E-mail questions to seminar@marinefm.org.
