The country's manufacturing industries will have to improve their materials processing techniques via heat treatment to become competitive on an international scale. Carburizing and quenching methods for surface hardening present uncontrollable and unpredictable problems in quality. This raises the cost of manufacturing processes and causes a non-optimal process use. Manufacturing companies will have to improvetheir current case hardening methods or use selective hardening approaches to achieve their goals.
