How Green is Green? International Environmental Groups Debate the Wisdom of Partnerships with Business

The National Audubon Society believes that the environment need not have to be sacrificed in favor of a healthy economy. The Society is urging the business community to realize that the earth's resources are limited and that the manner in which the environment is being managed now will determine mankind's economic future. In the Society's view, the world has no choice but to come to a basis of economic development that is environmentally sustainable. This would require major changes in business leaders' values, thinking and environmental habits. The National Audubon Society's interest in environmental protection goes beyond its concern for birds and wildlife. The Society recognizes that what is beneficial to the ecological well-being of the earth is also beneficial to the economic well-being of its inhabitants.
