Summary
Disaster response in Los Angeles
The telephone system at Los Angeles' City Hall has been upgraded to protect it in the event of a major earthquake. The system now includes 12 Conveyant Systems TeleDesk workstations, which operators can use to access electronic directories of emergency numbers. A single keystroke can now dial numbers at the home, office or car of key city officials. The directory holds 30,000 names on the workstation's hard disk, which is updated monthly. The consoles also enhance the Pacific Bell centrex-based system with its simplified message desk interface (SMDI) and uniform call distribution (UCD).See the full content of this document
