Summary
"They just wanted it more"-that's about the only sports cliche you won't hear in Glory Road, Disney's big-hearted basketball crowd-pleaser. Even with the odds stacked against it-a first-time director, racially charged themes, the constraints of being "based on a true story" and too many characters to count-the movie mostly works. It can be achingly familiar, yes, but more often it's rousing and even genuine.
There's nothing new about Glory Road. It's a nuts-and-bolts, fact-based sports drama with Disney written all over it. But the story is one that deserves to be told, and the film tells it well enough. If some of the characters feel underdeveloped, it's because the real protagonist is the team, not [Don Haskins] or any one player. And that's maybe the biggest cliche of all.See the full content of this document
