Summary


Temple University's diree-year investigation, which examined the eating habits of 12,666 individuals, was reported at a recent meeting of the North American Association for me Study of Obesity. The study compared participants' eating attitudes in 2006 to their views three years earlier.

The salad bars of yesteryear faded away because many customers favored combos of bacon cheeseburgers and fries. Some fast-food chains have again started offering a few healthy items such as grilled chicken, tossed salad and fruit. But unless customers consume these items in sufficient numbers, they'll be yanked off the menu. And once again, the instant gratification of the customers' taste buds will overpower the just-say-no messages from their brains.
