Now that the summer sizzle has cooked the surface water, fishing gets a tad tougher. Some anglers try to beat the heat by fishing at night, but if you don't want to go nocturnal there still are ways to up the odds in your favor.

Fish move up in the shallows after dark and stay there until a few minutes before full light. If you get up before dawn's first light, you can hammer shoreline bass and other predatory species using buzzbaits until about 9 a.m.
