Summary
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. (20th Century Fox; 78 minutes; PG; 2006). Despite the clever title, the folks behind this inevitable sequel aren't really Dickens around, instead lifting the durable switcheroo plot from Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper. Thus, the orange-hued, lasagna-lovin' feline of comic-strip fame-voiced again by Bill Murray, who collects the cinema year's easiest paycheck-gets to swap lifestyles with jolly olde England's royal housecat Prince (voice by Tim Curry), who has just inherited his late master's castle. In the dreariest of the movie's human-oriented subplots, Garfield's owner Jon (Breckin Meyer) surprises his veterinarian gal pal Liz (The Ghost Whisperer's Jennifer Love Hewitt), who's in London as part of an animal conservancy group, with plans to spring a marriage proposal on her. Oy, how cutesy!
