Following your hearts and pushing the envelope have been themes in the library blogging community for years. In fact, that is what makes the new Web incredibly freeing. But, as it happens, this freedom comes with consequences that occur while pushing this envelope. The comments that were generated from a blog post by Rochelle Hartman on Jan. 7, 2007, titled "Politeness? Overrated" were nothing less than remarkable. It turned a bit ugly, but the author thinks everyone learned a valuable lesson: Take risks and say what you feel is right, and do it because you believe in what you have to say.
