As the non-English-speaking population has grown in the US, so has interest in reaching this demographic. If you want to extend your potential customer base, consider translating your VoiceXML applications. Language translation services use at least three techniques to translate English words and phrases embedded in VoiceXML code into another language: 1. translation memory, 2. machine translation, and, 3. human translation. The extraction program pulls out three types of text: 1. grammars, 2. prompts to be recorded, and 3. prompts to be synthesized. So if you want to extend the reach of your IVR application, consider translating it to the language of your targeted audience.
