Summary
Few people living in Florida today were here when the Everglades was a vast, free-flowing river of grass extending from the Kissimmee chain of lakes to Florida Bay. When wading and migratory birds were so numerous they darkened the skies and when panthers, manatees and deer were abundant. In other words, when the Everglades ecosystem was healthy and thriving.
Well, today it is a different story. The Everglades are in trouble. Wondering why should you care? We all live in the Everglades ecosystem, extending from Orlando to the Florida Keys.
