Be proactive; ask questions. Don't be reluctant or embarrassed to ask a question of your accountant or to say you don't understand. Knowledge is power. Conversely, an accountant shouldn't be embarrassed to say, "There are areas I don't know." The last thing you both want is the Internal Revenue Service or another regulatory body honing in on your documentation because certain information has not been disclosed, possibly jeopardizing your compliance with certain terms and conditions.
