Super Bowl entertainment has come a long way since the bands of the universities of Arizona and Michigan played at halftime of Super Bowl I. For most of the first 20 years, it was college bands and salutes to various musical eras by "inspirational" group Up With People. Later, there was an Ice Capades-type show for XXVI and an Indiana Jones "spectacular" for XXIX. The last few years, the Super Bowl and other major sporting events have been dominated by pop acts: U2, Aerosmith, (topless) Janet Jackson. Some of these entertainers have scored big. Others have fumbled.
