Indirect land-use change could "kill biofuels" in the EU. The European Commission's top farm official reportedly wrote a memorandum to a colleague in December that "an unguided use" of indirect land-use change "would kill biofuels" in the European Union. This comes after the European governments ordered the commission to study the impact of indirect land-use change in calculating the greenhouse-gas emissions of biofuel crops being produced in the European Union.
