Electronic warfare and its present-day problems.

The experience of World War II and the subsequent development of the theory and practice of the armed struggle show that with the course of time, the role and influence of electronic warfare (EW) on the progress and outcome of combat operations (military actions) have been continuously increasing. Nowadays, EW is viewed as "a package of actions performed and coordinated in consideration of purpose, mission, place and time aimed at revealing enemy's weapon and army control systems with the purpose of their electronic suppression and technical reconnaissance equipment counteraction so as to protect own weapons and army control systems by electronic means."(1) According to another definition, EW is understood as military actions involving the use of electromagnetic energy to determine, exploit, reduce or prevent hostile use of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Since recently, the electronic warfare development problems have been actively discussed in scientific and research literature from different points of view. At the same time however, there are quite a number of scientific works(2) where the electronic warfare concept is presented as an "egregious error."
