Let's say we go to the store to shop for apples. We know one store where apples sell for $1.20 a pound. We know another store where the same apples sell for $1 a pound.

For most people, the choice is simple. We buy the apples at $1 and save money. Yes, there will be some of us who buy the more expensive apples because we think they look better, we like the store, or we don't bother to shop around. But, all other things being equal, the cheaper apple is the better buy.
