Summary


An East Earl Township girl has died of her injuries after a collision with a tractor-trailer around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Michelle Hurst, 5, her mother, Maryann, and Michelle's two brothers, were riding on their bicycles along a section of Lancaster Avenue, Terre Hill, when Michelle's bicycle struck the rear of the truck, police said. The girl was flown to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, but she died Thursday.

East Earl Girl Dies of Injuries

Newspaper records said that David Lavoie, 54, of Sylvester, Ga., was driving the truck. Lavoie was driving south in the 200 block of Lancaster Avenue when the girl veered into his rig, authorities said. Lavoie stopped at the scene, newspaper records said.

The incident remains under investigation, East Earl Township police reported Saturday evening.
