Drought Parches Tri-State's Corn, Soybean Crops Illinois Farms Facing Heavy Crop Decline

After two years of record harvests, Illinois corn and soybean crops are expected to be dramatically smaller this fall, the U.S. Agriculture Department said Friday.

One of the nation's top producers of both commodities, Illinois has been hit hard by drought. More than 90 percent of the state's cropland has less than adequate supplies of topsoil moisture, according to the Agriculture Statistics Service.
