IT HAS taken years, but one of the most notoriously nasty sites on the Elizabeth River is finally on its way to something better.

Surrounded by industry and a history of environmental insults, workers have begun dredging the lifeless floor off Money Point on the river's Southern Branch. It's the first step toward a restoration that will return wildlife to a river that industry nearly killed.
