Summary
In an interview, Donna McNamara, president of Donna McNamara Associates, talked about organization development. McNamara said that in training globally, companies should emphasize the commonalities across markets, functions, and countries. Some of the necessary changes in the field of training and development in the next 10 years are integrating training and development more fully with the other elements of talent management and with knowledge management. Another one is bridging the skills gap and the information divide which exist in the US as well as throughout the world. Within the profession, people need to move from being primarily development specialists to being primarily business people who are also experts in how to develop people and organizations. For her what is new is dedicating time to pro bono work in support of women and education. This is an important cause that she feels deeply about, both personally and as a change agent.
